ABOUT MEDS Inc.

Welcome,
Dear Prospective Students, Families, and Friends:
MEDS Inc. has, for over fifteen years, provided quality and sacrificial health care services to address the medical needs of low-income and “at-risk” families. Our commitment to “treating whosoever has a need” no matter the costs or ability to pay, has transitioned into exceptional and extraordinary allied health education and training externship opportunities for local minority and elderly members, primarily of the Lake Charles, LA Houston, Austin and Bastrop, TX communities.
To continue the dream and foresight of Dr. Melvin Morris, founder and owner of M and M Family Medicine Clinic and Medical Director for MEDS Inc. (now deceased), it has been my pleasure to rally colleagues, community leaders and fiends committed to perpetuating his dream, in establishing the Dr. Melvin Morris Memorial Medical Action Program (DM4AP). This outstanding program is designed to not only educate and provide uniquely diverse clinical internship opportunities, but will establish continuing education and curriculum and instruction support for diverse academic, healthcare, and social service disciplines around the country and beyond.
We look forward to assisting the unemployed, underemployed, and disabled members where ever that need exists to transition from economic distress to economic success.
Sincerely,

Evelyn Morris, AMOA
President, Emeritus
CFO, Board of Directors

Our History

In 2003, Dr. Melvin Morris along with his wife and office Director, with several family members, including their only daughter, colleagues, community leaders and friends expanded the M & M Family Medicine clinic's philanthropic healthcare service delivery by creating, MEDS Inc., a not-for-profit organization established to provide unemployed, underemployed, and disabled individuals with the skills and work experience necessary to become successful contributors within their community: worship, home, school, work, and recreation . Through a cooperative education, clinical and on-the-job training program the mission of MEDS Inc. dba/ is to provide an education and training structure that will prepare “highly qualified” personnel who are “competent to meet their entry-level performance requirements in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains.”.
